Poor cats. They're being killed in China at the moment because of Olympics. Why? The Chinese government is warning citizens for their diseases that they might carry and the scared people are throwing away their pets to be killed somewhere so that they're not seen on the streets during the time of Olympics.
I just don't understand. First of all, why get cats as their pets in the first place when they can't even take care of them? Second of all, aren't cats clean animals by nature? They're much cleaner than i.e. dogs and they consume mice, who are much dirtier. I can totally see a surge of mice in China once cats are all "cleaned up" by the government. And last of all, isn't Olympics all about peace and humanity? Where is humanity and compassion in killing helpless animals?
The article says that they're being sent to the meat market. I wonder if they'll be eaten after they're killed. Eww!
Poor kittens... I am sad. Rest in peace, cats.
