Veggie Power

submitted by Elijah07

A diet rich in vegetables is always good for the overall wellness of the human body. The kind of vegetable is not important as long as a person keeps mixing it up which means eating different vegetables in a week. A diet consisting of vegetables only (which includes raw vegetables and vegetable juices) has a real good effect on the body. A daily intake of vegetables not only protects the body from disorders, but also ensures longevity.

Vegetables contain the much needed proteins, minerals, vitamins and fibers needed for the body. People who consume a big amount of vegetable are more immune to chronic diseases than those who consume very little or no vegetables at all. The chronic diseases include cardiovascular disorders and certain kinds of cancer as well.

Although nutritional supplements are available in the market, nothing beats the natural food. The biggest reason for this is that vegetables contain not only the proteins and vitamins (also found in the supplements) it contains certain substances that specifically fight certain chronic diseases.

People who were on vegetable or fruit diet for a long time have seen a loss in their body weights. The reason for this can be attributed to the fact that after have a wholesome vegetable diet there will be no place in the tummy to eat all the unsaturated fatty junk foods.

In today’s hectic world fruits and certain vegetables can be consumed on the go. Since people do not have time as a liberty, they prefer junk foods as it is easily available and satisfies the appetite. If a person makes up his or her mind to consume only vegetables, then it will not only satisfy you but make you healthy as well.

A child should be motivated to eat all the fruits and vegetables not just for its nutrition, but the colors and shapes they come in enhance their cognitive powers.
