Why Big Mac is Cheaper Than a Salad

submitted by equanimity
Americans are getting bigger and bigger, thanks to abundance of cheap fast food. One might stop and think why fast foods are so cheap, considering the resources that they take for a pound of beef: 20 pounds of grain a day. This has got to be more expensive than a salad!

Here's an interesting article that discusses the U.S. government's role on the irony of cheap fast food. Oh yes, we're definitely paying for more than the sticker price on fast food. Not only our health, environment, but our taxes are paying for this odd balance of the food dynamics.

And that is why I don't eat fast food anymore. :) I think nowadays, we will most definitely find some intricate(and intimate) relationships between these types of big industries and our beloved government.
